Wall of Shame – Bad Customers

PayPal And Bad Customers:

I am no longer using PayPal as a way of  receiving deposits. I had a kitty buyer contact me back early in February, 2025.  Her name is Alaina and she is from Crescent City, California. She has Lainaz Boutique at least that was the account she left her deposit through. She put a deposit down on a very pretty little female kitten. She even made a trip over to see her. 

After being on hold for a month she sent me a text stating she had changed her mind about the kitten as she was having a house built and had decided to wait till later on in the summer/fall to get a kitten. I told her,  I would hold the deposit for her untill later on and it could be applied to another kitten. Alena was alright with that.

Not even a  week later, she sends me a text and says she has changed her mind and that she still wants the kitten she put the deposit on….. I told her I was already in talks with a different buyer about the kitten. But, since I hadn’t received a deposit yet from the new inquiry, that I would go ahead and let her (Alaina) keep her deposit on the kitten she had picked out. All was good for a month.

Shortly before she was to get her kitty, she texts me once again and says she is having personal problems and will not be able to get her kitten. So, she backed out a second time getting the kitten she had reserved.  I once again told her I would hold the deposit and she could apply it towards a differnt kitten. She said she was sorry and understood deposits were non-refundabl and I thought that was the end of it.

Little did I know that would not be the end of things. On May 30th 2025 , she opened a dispute and claim against me through PayPal for the deposit she had given me.  I have never had any problems with PayPal and submitted all the information they needed to make a decision regarding this customers claim.  

Today PayPal sided with my kitty buyer and took the deposit she paid me through PayPal and refunded it to her.  During our texting via PayPal trying to work things out Alena said she had gotten another kitten and that I could afford to refund her deposit to her.  So, it was not the fact that she was building a new house and needed to wait till it was completed , but the fact that she simply found a kitten elsewhere.

So, she was lying to me all along. Here we have a lady who operates her own business and has I am sure,  her own business policies that she adheres too and goes to great lengths to circumvent and get what she wants from me.  It is really sad that there are evil people like this out there that think they can just ignore a persons business policies. I am planning on filing a claim against her in small claims court………… so the matter is not over yet. 

So, this is why I can no longer offer PayPal as a way to leave deposits. I will no longer be dealing with PayPal. Has any other breeders out there had a similar problem with PayPal?
